Today I went to Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center for an orientation. I also met my mentor, for the first time. She made a presentation of the do's and dont's in the facility and provided us information about the center and provided cool facts about the place, staff and the people who attend there. I made sure I paid extra attention to the rules and regulation. She gave us a virtual tour of the place since none of the staff or students are in the facility anymore. She also took time to learn a few things about the new volunteers. She asked question such as: "how did you find this place," "what made you interested in volunteering." I learned that there was one volunteer who was 13 years old who volunteers with her dad because she wanted to give back to the community and that inspired everyone in the room. By the end of the presentation, my mentor passed out a schedule chart and people signed up to the days they want to volunteer. By the time the chart reached me, there were only a few slots available. My mentor informed me that she would email me if there are anymore available spot for the next month and I could schedule there. After signing a few things and scheduling m first day, I said goodbye to my mentor and left.
